Every 15 minutes, an elephant dies at the hand of a poacher.  Last year alone, 36,000 African elephants were slaughtered for their tusks, to fuel the ivory trade.  Unless something is done, elephants could become wiped out in the wild within the next 12 years.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) banned the international trade of ivory in 1989, but it’s still thriving in parts of the world where it’s unregulated. Sadly, elephants are not the only animal to fall victim to wildlife crime.

A note from     owner/designer Julie Geisinger...

I’m so glad you are checking out this page!  While I have always loved elephants, my interest in them has really grown over the past year.  In particular, I’ve become increasingly worried by the decline in their numbers at the hand of poachers.  My heart breaks each time I read an article about another herd being slaughtered, and their tusks sawed right off.  It sickens me that poachers are doing this to baby elephants and pregnant mothers as well.  Elephants are not alone when it comes to wildlife crime.  Wanting to do something, no matter how small, I decided to focus on elephants for the next charitee style.  As Mother Teresa said, "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." With that said, I’ve decided to donate a portion of sales of each yoga tee sold (in the NEW women’s v-neck long sleeve elephant charitee style) to charities supporting the efforts to save elephants as well as work toward prevention of wildlife crime.
